When asked by Amuse Singers in June of 2017 to write something fun, playful and upbeat about the weather, I will admit I was a bit apprehensive at first. It felt like what we needed was not more fun, but more skills in mediation and communication. And yet, Amuse was right, we do need a bit of levity. And so it came to me at about 2AM — whether, weather, and …. weather (I do love homonyms.) A little searching on Google and … yes, a poem about the weather and a mediation tactic all wrapped up in a lovely little British rhyme, reminding us that it is possible to weather the weather and each other. And so, ‘Whether the Weather’, a fun, upbeat piece with a bit of choreography, a Latin beat, and even a little barbershop, was born. Feel free to sit back, enjoy the ride, and after the concert, be sure to shake hands with your neighbor.
