MY JOURNEY OF TRANSFORMATION

Welcome - I’m so glad you’re here!

My passion is the creation of music that moves you. My compositions do not avoid the difficulties of life, but you’ll find that my music always has hope embedded within.

Music is transformative — it’s why I write

Composing is my reason to get up in the morning. I love nothing more than to hear from YOU! To know that my music touched you or made you think in a different way. Send me a note!

My art and life intertwine as I seek the extraordinary within the ordinary — the moments of daily life that we might miss if we’re not paying attention. Sometimes this means heading out into the street to protest injustice, to continue learning through research, or to work in my garden as I practice deep listening. The themes of my compositions often include unconventional and challenging topics such as uncommon courage, facing adversity, cultural diversity, and mystical experiences as well as the simplest observations, sorrows, and joys.

It’s no secret that words are the heart of my vocal compositions. I am especially drawn to texts that speak to the threads of universality and shared experience.

A Story of Unexpected Inspiration

Most people don’t know it all started with a T’ai Chi Chih class I took when I was suffering from postpartum depression. I was so taken with the practice that I became a certified teacher.

This joyful practice taught me to connect deeper to myself and the music emerged. I began to hear songs – words and music together. I had been a coder and a science teacher so this was new territory for me. But there was no denying that it was my path so I dug in and started writing and learning.

I HOPE YOU’LL STAY A WHILE!

YOU CAN'T HELP BUT SMILE...

I can’t help but be brought to tears of joy when I listen to or sing Love is Welcome Here. It reminds me why I sing, to create beautiful music with beautiful people. The words are just as powerful as the melody and you can’t help but smile when you sing this song with the people you love. When we sang this song for the last time, we all held each other up through our tears, that’s the power of music. Thank you for sharing your creation with us.
